| Game Over 1
and 2 The first game I ever
bought, an epic 4-part space combat/platform game. Unfortunately its so damn hard,
I had trouble getting past the first stage, and I only saw the saw the second
one when I found the codes to unlock it in a magazine. Nevertheless, Game Over
is a great fun with varied gameplay and excellent (for the time) graphics. With
the right emulator you can even get this game to run in 256 colours (check the
emulation section to find out more). Download it |

| Gauntlet *A
must download*Yay, another
great game. Play as one of four characters (Warrior, Wizard, Elf... and another
one) and explore deep, dark dungeons populated by ghosts, trolls and various other
nasty creatures. I don't know, or have heard of anyone who has ever played this
game right thru, simply because its so damned big. I used to play it with a friend
(did I forget to mention the two-player mode? silly me) and we used to give up
after about level 20 - and i'm pretty sure that only about 25% into the game.
Great fun and the ancestor of modern games like Diablo. Download it |

| GhostBusters
*A must download*
GHOST
BUSTERS!!!! BWAHAHAAHA
It had sampled voices (he slimed me!!!), addictive
gameplay, and some funky music - Ghostbusters was a fantastic game. You drove
around a map of New York, catching ghosts and waiting for that damned marshmallow
man to show his puffy white face. The only trouble is that you ever seemed to
get anywhere in the game, no matter how many ghosts you caught the city always
went to hell. Still, while it lasted it was a fun experience. Download it |

| Gift from the
Gods Another one of the games
that came bundled with my speccy, and a very strange one. You fly around a dungeon
(labyrinth?) with the aid of your winged sandles.... and that's about as much
as I worked out. Every so often you came across a mythological beast like a Hydra
or a Medusa, but you could never kill the damn thing. And you could also drop
these flashy things - the purpose of which I never discovered. Anyway, I would
recommend you check it out just for its strangeness. Download it |

| Gunfighter *A
must download*I loved this
game so much that I actually had a fight with the kid who tried to take it off
me (just because he lent it to me, doesn't mean he's gonna get it back!) You play
as the sheriff of a little western town and must hunt down increasingly harder
opponents (outlaws). The little town the game is set in looks great, you can enter
most buildings (you can even gamble in the casino) all the time trying to find
and gun down the bad-guy. There was also a little sub-quest - you had to find
a certain amount of "deeds" in order to save the town, but to be honest I never
bothered with it. I was more interested in hunting down that little injun fella
and blowing his brains out (a tip though; don't shoot people in the back, it's
not nice). A great little game, in many ways the Speccy equivalent of the one-on-one
Quake deathmatch... or maybe not (Quake is crap).

| HammerFist I
think this is based on a character from 2000AD (the comic with Judge Dread in
it). Basically you play this big bloke who can can fire rockets from his knuckles.
"That's nothing special" I hear you say "my uncle Berty can do that". Ah, but
can your uncle Berty turn into a somersaulting female with just a quick flick
of the joystick (my uncle John could, but we don't talk about him much). Aaaaanyway
back to the game - as far as I can tell you have been imprisoned in some sort
of er... prison, filled with nasty robots and things. The reason I bought it all
those years ago is that it looked so good, this is about the time that people
were abandoning the 8-bit computers in favour of Amigas and Atari STs, so this
game is at pretty much one of the best looking Speccy games ever made (IMHO).
Oh yeah, and blowing up things is fun, so enjoy =) Download it |

| How to be a
Complete Bastard You know how
when you throw a party, and there is always one prick who spoils things by vomiting
all over the bathroom and setting fire to the kitchen? Well that's what this game
is about. Walk around a house setting fire to peoples coats and finding creative
uses for chainsaws. It sounds great doesn't it? Well it is... until the novelty
wears off, then it starts to get a bit boring. Still, I would download it
anyway, because it's great stress relief (just imagine that's your boss/neighbour/girlfriend
your throwing darts at). Download it |

| International
Karate + *A must download* EVERYONE
had international karate... because it was so damned good. Fight in a series of
karate matches against two other opponents, a win or a draw means that you advance
to the next match, but if you loose then your out. Every three or four matches
you got to play in a little sub game, usually involving deflecting bouncing balls
for points (not as easy as it sounds.) Above all I think it was the shear amount
of moves in this game that made it so god, everything from there - from the Flying
kick (ala Bruce Lee in the Big Boss) to the double face kick (ALA Jackie Chan
in Cannonball Run.) AND you could play it with a friend, which just made a good
game even better. If you want to see what fighting games were like before Street
Fighter and Mortal Kombat, then download International Karate.. or i'll kick your
fookin'
head in. Download it |

| Impossible Mission
1 and 2 I think the main reason
I bought this is that the kid down the street (yes, him again) had it on
the C64... and the man in the game can do flips. However it is a pretty nifty
game, you run around a huge tower block type place avoiding robots and searching
rooms for clues that allow you to progress further in the game. One for those
who like to use their brain instead of blowing things up (if that's not you then
look up a couple of inches for the game Hammerfist). Download it |

| Lemmings Yes
yes, everyone played Lemmings, bought the sequels, bought the T-shirt etc etc.
But d'you want to know why I bought Lemmings? to see the little fluffy animals
DIE!!!!. Stick two blockers at each end of a group of the little gits and
then hit the destruct button. 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... BOOOOM!!! BWAHAHAHAA
I've also heard that the game has some puzzle and strategy elements, but I
never got that far. Download it |
