 A
note on files types There are 4 types of file available for download
on this site, where ever possible I have tried to include one of each type for
each game. For the most part each type of file is handled differently by an emulator,
so below is a quick guide to running each type. (I'm assuming your using
the X128 emulator, although most programs handle the files in a similar way.)
.SNA and .Z80 files Easy
peasy, just hit F5, find the file on your HDD and hit enter. The file will load
up and you can start playing. .TAP
files These are representations of actual spectrum tapes. Press F7 and
load and find the game that you want to play. Then you have to decide which mode
to play it in; for 128K mode the file will play automatically once you select
LOADER in the menu, in 48k mode you have to do it yourself. To do this press J
once (LOAD will appear on the screen) and then @ twice ("" will appear)
then just press enter and away you go. .TZX
These are the most faithful to the original spectrum tapes, and therefore
the most slow and annoying (if you use the Real Spectrum Emulator however, you
can flashload .TZX files into memory and play straight away.) To do this you load
the file in exactly the same way as .TAP files, but then you have to start the
tape playing yourself, to do this you hit ALT+F8 in X128 to start the tape, and
ALT+F8 to stop it again.
